1 lb. uncooked cleaned, deveined, shrimp
1 lb. asparagus
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
2-1/4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons light soy sauce
3/4 cup water
Garlic powder to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons oil
Marinate shrimp in sesame oil, 1-1/4 tsp cornstarch, and 2 tsp light soy sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper mixture for 15 minutes to 1 hour.
Cut asparagus to 2-inch lengths. Remove woody stems, 1 inch from bottom.
Wash and par-boil asparagus for 2 minutes. Flush with cold water.
Heat oil in wok; when very hot, add shrimp; cook for 2 minutes. Add thickener ( 3/4 cup water and 1 tsp of cornstarch). Add more light soy sauce to taste. When bubbling, add asparagus, stir for 3 seconds. Serve immediately.
